a spoon? really?

33 weeks

here we are. 34 weeks and 5 days. and i just keep getting bigger (baby is estimated to be around 5 pounds right now. if she keeps this up, we'll have an 8 pounder!)

i've had a terrible cold for the past 2 1/2 weeks. i've coughed so much, i pulled something in my back. early tuesday morning, i was unable to sleep so i got up for a bowl of cereal. while bending down to get a spoon out of the dishwasher, i reinjured whatever i pulled. to the point of basically not being able to move around. well, if you know me, i didn't let it get to me right away. i ate my bowl of lucky charms, took some tylenol, and tried to lay down. only i couldn't lay down. and once i did, i couldn't get up. jarratt was still sleeping so i just let him be (it was around 5am and he had to get up for work soon. you don't wake a sleeping jarratt) and lowered myself into a warm bath. getting out was a task, but i was able to fall asleep for about 45 minutes before jarratt got up for work. he came to give me a kiss goodbye and i told him about my back, he gave it a rub thinking it would help and i lost it. we decided it would be best to go to the emergency room. sure a bit more expensive but my regular doctor has been weird about seeing me while i'm pregnant and my OB said she only handles pregnancy related things. apparently, when you tell the admitting desk at the ER that you're 34 weeks pregnant and have back pain, they think you're in labor so they sent me to the labor and delivery wing. i kept trying to tell them that i injured it and i was pretty sure i wasn't in labor. but they wanted to monitor the baby anyways. they hooked me up to the fetal monitor for about an hour. the baby was doing fine and i was having teeny tiny contractions. i barley noticed them or if i did, i had no idea what they were. my OB ended up coming in to make sure i was okay. she wasn't concerned about the contractions. she gave me some muscle relaxers and pain killers to take the edge off and told me to ice it.

i came home and did just that and today it feels better.

but my god, is every pregnancy full of this much drama? and who hurts themselves picking up a spoon?
