with all the fuss of myspace and facebook, i forgot about this blog. so instead of trying to back track and write about all mischa's milestones, i'll just start with the most recent stuff and hopefully continue to update along the way (no promises!)
mischa is now 5 months old. we started her on solid foods at 4 months and she took to them really well. she loves almost everything we've tried so far (peas, bananas, avacadoes, and pears.) applesauce is a little too sour for her tastebuds so i neutralize the taste by adding bananas or cinnamon. she also doesn't like green beans (i love them, so i don't understand what's NOT to like about them!) so in order to get her to eat them, i mix them with peas. she seems to notice that the peas don't exactly taste like plain peas but she eats it anyways.
within the last week, she's been trying to crawl. she gets up on all fours and scoots backwards. or she puts her head and her feet on the floor with her butt in the air and flails herself forward. add this in with the rolling from back to stomach and stomach to back and scooting around like a second hand on a clock, it's nearly impossible to keep her contained to a blanket on the floor. this is especially tricky when she's having naked time (she absolutely loves having her clothes and diaper off.)
as for sleeping, she's pretty much mostly sleeping through the night. sometimes she'll wake up around 5am for a bottle but will go back to sleep. waking up at 5am works out great when it's daycare days. i always feel really bad waking her up to get ready for daycare.
i think that's pretty much it for the mischa update. as for the rest of the family...
callie (the cat) has been diagnosed with hyper thyroid. she's on a pill twice a day to bring it down. in another month, she'll have more blood work to make sure that her kidney functions are okay. all i can do is give her the best life possible at this point. she's 15 years old (16 in october.) as for callie putting up with mischa, she could pretty much care less.
amber has taken very well to having mischa around. we were a little nervous bringing a baby into our house because amber doesn't exactly have the best reputation around children. she protects mischa and puts up with her trying to grab her tail and ears.
jarratt was practicing with the old bone dry band members. they played on gig at his cousin mike and lonna's and then decided to call it quits. everyone seemed to have other things going on in their personal lives. he's still working full time at watchguard and being a full time daddy when he gets home.
i went back to work 3 days a week when mischa was 12 weeks old. it feels nice to get out of the house and contribute financially to our family. mischa is in an in home daycare near our house. it is run by the mother of a girl i went to high school with (she also works there.) mischa seems to like daycare and enjoys watching all the other kids. she comes home full of all sorts of new noises.
i ended up having the cyst that was found during my pregnancy removed on august 25th. it was about 6cm and showing no signs of getting smaller. it was wrapped around my right ovary and there was no way to separate it so the ovary was removed as well. the good news is, the cyst was dermoid which means it was made out of cartiledge, hair, teeth, and fatty tissue. these types of cysts are benign and develop during the fetal stages. which means, this cyst has been around my entire life. i feel better having it removed so i don't run into the possibility of it rupturing. and there isn't any kind of fertility issue since i have another ovary (but don't get too excited yet, we're not even planning to have another one anytime soon!)
anyway, i guess that's it for now. i'll try to keep this updated a little more regularly. (it's not letting me post pictures for whatever reason, but i'm sure everyone has seen them on facebook or myspace anyways!)
