6 months and a cold

mischa turned 6 months old on september 26th. on one hand, i cannot believe she's already 6 months and on the other, i cannot believe it's ONLY 6 months. i feel like i can't remember a time when she wasn't apart of our lives.

at her 6 month well baby check, she was 18 pounds (in the 85th percentile) and 27.75 inches (in the 95th percentile) with a head circumference of 41.6cm (in the 20th percentile.) so we have a long, skinny baby with a small head.

she's crawling everywhere now. it's amazing how you think you have your house baby proof until the baby starts crawling. i've had to put away the dvds and tuck every electrical cord under something. and i realized that i should probably pad the whole house because she sits up on her own but doesn't quite have the balance to stay that way. she's pulling herself up now too. is all this activity really normal for a 6 month old?

last night jarratt and i were watching a movie while mischa roamed around on the floor. every few minutes, i'd have to get up and extract her from under the desk, under her activity bouncer or get her away from the dog toys. then she got interested in her toy basket and kneeled over it for a good half an hour pulling toys out, inspecting them and putting them back. it was adorable.

we've all been battling a cold for the past week. it's heartbreaking to see a baby sick especially when they can't tell you what's wrong or blow their nose. mischa gets so mad when i wipe her nose or try to use the snot sucker thing. the poor thing has been waking up in the early morning because she can't breath.

food preferences have changed some. she'll now eat green beans and applesauce plain but has decided she doesn't care for avacadoes. which is fine by me, avacadoes are expensive! we got her a high chair for her 6 month birthday. and a sippy cup and apple juice. she loves sitting in the high chair watching jarratt or me. sippy cups are kind of a new concept. she puts them to her mouth but doesn't quite know how to tip them up to get anything out (she doesn't know how to hold her own bottle either though, but i wanted to try apple juice and my rule is no juice in the bottle- formula only. i figure it will be easier to get her off the bottle when the time comes if i do this.)

i've gotton really excited for christmas this year. i can't wait to buy presents and play santa. actually, i haven't waited. i bought her first present yesterday. can't pass up a good sale! i also can't wait to buy her a little red velvet christmas dress! i want to now, but with the way she's growing, who knows what size she'll be in by christmas?
